When it comes to stock market trading, what does the volume of the stock represent?

Saturday, July 24th, 2010

Does the volume represent the number of shares bought or sold? What does it mean when the volume is in the red? For a DOW company, what would be considered a large volume for a day? 1 Million, 10 Million, 100 Million. Where can you go to see the trends in the volume of corporations?

It represent the amount of shares that are trading. This is usually the market amount. Therefore when you chart the market trade and the stock activity, you are charting the volume trading. This is good for technical analysis as opposed to fundamental which does not take into account the volume traded for the market size. So the volume represents the technical analysis of the stock.

Problem in understanding stock market trading volume?

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

How to determine whether a volume bar represents low, normal ,high or excessive volume?
Is it done by comparing with some standard volume? If yes,how to obtain that standard value?

Are there fixed percentage ranges to classify volume as low/normal/high/excessive?

Whenever a sudden high volume appears after a series of almost similar volumes, I have trouble in classifying that volume as being high or being excessive. Please help.

Do Not Consider Only Volume. Volume has to be used in addition to other technical indicators

Any good resource for intra day stock market trading?

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Where can i get information of likely trend to be followed in stock market? I mean i need some prediction/forecast/tool for intra day or short term trading in stock market.

Don’t know how to put it as stock market is totally uncertain. There are some methods to predict the trend for stock market and not a single method is totally reliable. However i have found astrology as comparatively effective tool in knowing the trend for stock market. Here’s one website which provides daily stock market forecast called New Age Astro, with reasonable accuracy
