For retail traders i believe that the most common trading platform is metatrader 4 (MT4). It is relatively simple and easy to use. You can also hire someone to write your own "robot" and you can then attach it to your MT4 platform. From there you can monitor its performance on a demo, and after some 6 months then decide whether to trade it on a live account.

I can’t find anything that is totally Mac oriented without the use of Java or Parallels. FXCM offers Java but it’s totally lame and don’t feel comfortable with it. Thanks!!
try to check out this site. they claim to offer a web based trading platform that does not really require special downloads or configuration, however, in some cases where the client is using special settings, or is missing basic components, some modifications are needed in order to use certain features, or to enrich the common user’s experience and the charts system is based on Java and Flash technologies and requires that a “Java Virtual machine” and "Flash Player" are installed on your computer. anyway, in case of special configuration or settings, their technical support group can assist your requirements. all the best.

I get better fills on forex futures rather than the spot market, but I trade both on two different machines.

Yes there are. Forex Robots are available all over the web. Unless you have 5 years or more of successful Forex Trading………. not one of them will make consistent profit for you. In short your account will blow up.
It’s nice to think that there’s some magic software that will make you rich. It doesn’t exist. It’s almost self delusional to believe you’ll find it. Believing the adds on the web or statements on Yahoo Answers will tap into this foolish belief. Don’t be a fool. Stay away from this stuff.
